About Playtech Baccarat
Baccarat is played by comparing the banker’s hand with the player’s hand. The aim of the game is to get cards that amount to 9. In terms of card values, Tens, Jacks, Queens and Kings all are worth zero, Aces count as one, and the other cards are worth their face value. If both cards added together are greater than 9, simply drop 10 from its value, and this will be the value of your baccarat hand. For example, if you were to get a 6 and an 8, it would be 14. Since it’s greater than 9, 10 gets dropped from the card’s value, and it’s counted as 4.
When playing Playtech Baccarat online, if an 8 or 9 are dealt in the first two cards (known as a ‘natural’) – this hand automatically wins and the win is paid accordingly. In the case of the banker hand being a natural, he will tie the player hand with an 8, and lose to a 9. In some cases the player and the banker will need to draw a third card.
Our Tips
Unlike Blackjack, Baccarat isn’t a very strategic game. There are only three bets that can be made – you can either bet on the banker, the player, or a tie. If you bet on the banker hand winning, you’ll win 95% of your bet. This is due to the commission taken on the banker bet. So if you bet $100 on the banker and win, you’ll pay $5 to the house. Even money will be paid to player bets. While tie bets will pay 8:1. The baccarat table indicates that ties will pay “9 for 1”. Don’t mistake this for meaning this bet pays 9:1, it doesn’t because the $1 is included in the $9 you win.
